This complex staircase required multiple radiuses rolled back to back to create the organic plan view curvature of the spiral. In order to obtain the correct pitches for each portion of the stair with a different radius, multiples of the exterior plates and interior saw tooth plates were laser cut to a custom unfurled geometry.
HSS 14″ x 4″ x 5/8” stringers, and top rails made from 3 1/2” XS pipe (.318” wall). With just those two elements, each linear foot of the staircase weighs over 160 pounds
1 1/4″ sch 40 stainless pipe rolled helically to a 8′ 9″ inside radius.
